Lewis Jewelers is committed to bringing the most Fashion Forward and quality designers to our stores. We can’t wait to share these collections with you! 2016 has been a whirlwind of glitter- just like we like it! This summer we added some fresh faces who we are excited to introduce. Penny Preville, Armenta, Gurhan and Omega are now available at Lewis Jewelers! Check out the backstories behind the designers and the lines.
Penny Preville – First inspired by the sparkling treasures in her grandmother’s jewelry box, Penny Preville has emerged as an award winning jewelry designer, whose signature style is defined by femininity, luxury, and an eye for intricate detail. Preville studied art design and jewelry making from an early age through college and soon began selling signature designed jewelry that would come to be her namesake collection. Fusing old world techniques and details with a contemporary sensibility, Preville’s collections strike a balance between elegance, fashion, innovation and “wearability.”
“I am influenced by fashion and culture, but I also believe in continuity. A designer should remain true to their style,” she explains. “I am constantly refining the collection and re-evaluating the customer’s needs.” Preville adds, “It’s fun! But the challenge is to keep pushing one step ahead of what women want. Jewelry is very personal and individual to the wearer, my goal is to keep designing pieces that will make a woman look and feel fabulous.”
Emily Armenta – I come from a family of artists so I was introduced to beautiful works of art at a very young age. Surrounded by artists, I have always had a lot of support to express myself through my art work. As a result, I have been designing, sketching, and working with stones ever since I was a young girl and it has always been a passion of mine. Designing jewelry has not only been a vehicle for me to express my creativity, but also my thoughts and emotions. However, I did not realize that my passion could become a reality and a career path until I began the MBA program at Rice. While taking an entrepreneurship class at Rice, I was given an assignment to create a fictitious company and write a business plan. I chose to focus my project on my passion, which is designing jewelry. I was very fortunate to have the support of the school and an amazing mentor who not only believed in me, but also gave me a chance to fulfill my dream.
My studio is a source of inspiration. I am inspired by the creativity that surrounds me on a daily basis. I cannot imagine outsourcing my art to another country and missing out on the creativity that takes place every day. Spending time at the studio provides an incredible opportunity for me to invent and create something that can never be duplicated. Furthermore, the studio is a magical place for me as I am able to see firsthand how believing in duende can make the impossible become a reality.
Gurhan – When Gurhan first started working in pure gold he ignored the common belief that it was too soft, heavy and expensive for jewelry. He studied the craft of the ancient goldsmiths of the Anatolian and Byzantine empires, the world’s first goldsmiths, then refined their methods to develop his now signature technique.
Omega – For more than 160 years, our timepieces have recorded the planet’s history. They have also served with distinction in space, in the oceans’ depths and on the wrists of world leaders, explorers and men and women who appreciate OMEGA’s blend of performance and design.
